The tranquility of New Zealand invites many nature lovers in different countries to settle on its shores. New Zealand boasts of majestic mountains, verdant forests, clean lakes, and other natural wonders that were once present in other countries but were utterly destroyed by man’s exploitation of nature.
But even if you are a strong advocate of nature preservation, you would want to have a few modern conveniences with you, such as modern appliances. After all, you wouldn’t want to laboriously hand-wash your soiled clothes down a fast-flowing river, would you?

Follow these tips when packing your large appliances in preparation for shipping to New Zealand.

1. Dishwasher
Make sure there are no utensils left in the washing compartment. Then tape down the racks, door, basket, and all other parts that can be moved or detached. Read the manufacturer’s manual for instructions disengaging the water hook-up. Tape the power cord to the dishwasher’s body. Finally, tie a foam pad around the appliance to prevent it from getting damaged.

2. Dryer
Take out the exhaust hose from the wall. Just like what you did with the dishwasher,secure all moving or detachable parts by taping them to the appliance’s casing. Finally, tie a large foam pad around the dryer to protect it during transit.

3. Refrigerator
Take out the contents and defrost the refrigerator a couple days before moving day. Remove all movable shelves, doors, barriers, and other detachable components. Tape these components together to avoid loss. Thereafter, tape the door and the cord to the refrigerator’s body. Tie several layers of pads around the refrigerator then secure the appliance in a big corrugated box.

4. Washing machine
Tilt the washing machine at a sharp angle to drain the water in the machine’s reservoir. Let the interior dry then take out all accessories and detachable parts.Keep these parts in a plastic bag or a separate box.Secure the lid of the washing machine with duct tape and tape bubble wrap all around the body.
